Jakarta – Seorang gelandangan bernama Leo Grand mungkin akan menjadi inspirasi banyak orang. Hidup pria jalanan yang bekerja serabutan ini berubah seketika setelah ditawari belajar coding.

Agustus silam di tahun ini, Leo didatangi seorang pria tak dikenal. Anehnya, seperti dikutip detikINET dari New York Post, Senin (16/12/2013), pria itu tiba-tiba saja menawarkan dua pilihan.

“Saya akan kembali lagi besok dan memberi uang tunai USD 100. Atau saya akan datang lagi besok, memberikan tiga buku Java-Script dan laptop murah,” kata pria tersebut yang belakangan diketahui adalah programmer muda bernama Patrick McConlogue.

Belajar WordPress: Integrasi aplikasi Yii dalam WordPress

Yii yang tenar sebagai framework pengembangan aplikasi web dengan konsep MVC dan WordPress sebagai sebuah framework CMS/Blogging terpopuler ternyata bisa disatukan. Contoh kasus, misalnya WordPress digunakan sebagai frontpage sebuah Sistem Informasi, dan aplikasi berbasis Yii untuk menangani berbagai kebutuhan sistem informasi. Aplikasi Yii tersebut dikembangkan sebagai plugin WordPress, dan cukup menangani kebutuhan khusus saja, untuk urusan penerbitan konten, berita, user dan lain-lain serahkan saja pada core milik WordPress.

Back to School: Plan ahead and never ‘miss’ a day of school for snow, ice, heat, hurricane… again

It’s  Back to School 2011 !  We’ll be running back to school focused posts throughout the week of September 2nd, highlighting some good tips and suggestions for making the most out of your Moodle usage in 2011-2012.   A school cancellation due to snow, when I was a student, was like winning the lottery.  The day was disrupted and cancelled and I got to go home, go sledding and drink my hot chocolate without a care in the world

How to use MySQL Query Browser on Remote Database on Mandriva

MySQL Query Browser is a part of MySQL database product from MySQL (now it owned by Oracle,Inc.). It is a GUI tool to run MySQL Query and get the result on pretty field-way view. MySQL Query browser mostly used by administrator on it own server, altough it can be managing a remote database query. Here is the how-to:

1. Install the MySQL Query Browser with urpmi on Mandriva 2010.1


urpmi --auto-update

urpmi mysql-query-browser

Some of my favorite “ you might be a Moodler… ” You describe the color of something as “Moodle” orange

PrestoDB Engine Open-sourced by Facebook

Facebook has open-sourced some interesting in-house code in the past like Flashcache for the Linux kernel, the Folly C++ library, and the HipHop Virtual Machine. The latest open-source Linux-compatible software release coming out of Facebook is Presto, their tool for interacting with petabytes of information.

Presto is a distributed SQL query engine developed in-house at Facebook that they use for scouring their 300+ petabytes of data at the social network company. Facebook uses Hadoop clusters but Hive and other existing open-source tools didn’t provide the low-latency results the company wanted, so a team set to develop Presto.  Continue reading PrestoDB Engine Open-sourced by Facebook
