Canonical has officially released the brand new Ubuntu 15.04 codename “Vivid Vervet”. This popular linux distribution based on Debian is using Unity Desktop environment, made by Canonical itself.
This release is a part of Ubuntu release cycle every six months. Some very interesting new feature and many important changes is done on these release. The biggest changes for this release is replacement of the init system from Upstart to Systemd.
Ubuntu 15.04 is not heavily packed with some radical evolution from previous version, 14.10. No visual point of view changes in this release. Most changes is software and library upgrading only.
As said in Official Release Notes, “As with every new release, packages–applications and software of all kinds–are being updated at a rapid pace. Many of these packages came from an automatic sync from Debian’s unstable branch; others have been explicitly pulled in for Ubuntu 15.04,”
