Tinggal sejarah tampaknya.

Selamat Ulang Tahun ke-12, Ubuntu!

“Selamat ulang tahun, selamat ulang tahun”

Jika belum punya, silakan install dengan perintah: sudo apt-get install unity-tweak-tool.

Square

Icon square menganut design language Flat Design.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/icons2
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install square-icons

Vivacous

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ravefinity-project/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vivacious-colors

Shadow

Kemudian ada themes icon Shadow:

Cara install:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/icons
sudo apt-get update

We are a tiny band in a market of giants, but our focus on delivering free software freely together with enterprise support, services and solutions appears to be opening doors, and minds, everywhere. So, in honour of the valiantly tiny leaping long-tailed over the obstacles of life, our next release which will be Ubuntu 17.04, is hereby code named the ‘Zesty Zapus’.

Linux News Today: NetworkManager 1.4 Adds Support for Setting IPv6 Tokenized Interface Identifiers

Today, August 24, 2016, Lubomir Rintel released the final build of the NetworkManager 1.4 open-source network connection manager software used by default in almost all GNU/Linux distributions.

NetworkManager 1.4 is now the latest stable and most advanced version of the widely-used software, replacing the NetworkManager 1.2 release, and promising to add many improvements to keep the quality of the application as high as possible, but also to fix those annoying issues reported by users from the previous maintenance update.

The biggest new features of NetworkManager 1.4 are the ability to set IPv6 tokenized interface identifiers by using the ‘ipv6.token’ connection property, support for oFono as modem manager, a new ‘VPN_PLUGIN’ logging domain, as well as support for automatic disconnection of network devices before the operating system suspends.

“Now devices are disconnected before the system suspends, executing dispatcher scripts. This allows external applications to be notified of the change in connectivity,” reads the internal changelog, which we’ve attached below for your reading pleasure. “Dispatcher scripts are now called also when connectivity status changes.”

Bash autocompletion improved for the NetworkManager CLI tool

The list of changes continues with bash autocompletion improvements for nmcli, the NetworkManager command-line tool, support for reloading and reapplying DNS configuration through a new ‘Reload’ D-Bus method, and support for creating configuration checkpoints, along with the ability to rolling back changes after a timeout.

There’s also support for network devices to expose counters of transferred data, a new ‘dns-priority’ property lets users tweak the order of IPv6 and IPv4 servers in resolv.conf for systems with multiple active connections, IPv6 reverse DNS (Domain Name System) entries are now being added to Dnsmasq, and the IPv4 ones respect the network prefix.

Moreover, the IPv6 and IPv4 ‘may-fail’ property is now correctly honored, it is possible to build NetworkManager with GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) sanitizers, and you can now set the MAC address assigned to a network device according to the available policies, such as stable, permanent, preserve, or random.

Last but not least, NetworkManager 1.4 follows symlinks when setting the rc-manager and resolv.conf access to ‘file’, it waits for IPv6 DAD to stop before completing the activation, and increases the timeout for requests of secrets to agents from 25 to 120 seconds. Check out the changelog below for more details and download NetworkManager 1.4 right now via our website.

Linux News Today: Linux Turns 25, Happy Birthday!

Now that it’s August 25 in most countries, the time has come for us Linux geeks to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the and the open source project that changed the world as we know it.

Yes, that’s right, exactly 25 years ago, on August 25, 1991, which was a Sunday, Linus Benedict Torvalds informed Minix users that he was doing a free computer operating system as a hobby. “Hello everybody out there using Minix. I’m doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won’t be big and professional like GNU) for 386 (486) AT clone,” read the announcement.

“Even after 25 years, Linux still serves as an example of how collaborative development can work, which can be applied to other open source projects,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director of The Linux Foundation. “This report provides insight into the development trends and methodologies used by thousands of different individuals collectively to create some of the most important software code on the planet.”

Happy 25th birthday, Linux!

Well, 25 years later, it turns out Linux is a big thing, bigger than GNU was, and it’s everywhere around us. Linux kernel powers your Android or Ubuntu smartphone as you read this story on your 5.5-inch display, it’s used by search engine giant Google, as well as 99.9% of the websites you’re accessing daily. Linux kernel, as the core component of a GNU/Linux operating system, is everywhere around us.

Even if you don’t see it, Linux is there. For God’s sake, the whole Internet is powered by Linux! It’s used in airplanes, on your Wi-Fi router, on smartwatches, smart TVs, and any other smart device you have in your home. Yes, even your smart fridge uses Linux, but we won’t bother you with nonsense geek details because it’s celebration time, and Softpedia Linux team wishes a very Happy Birthday to Linux!

Linux News Today: Vendetta Online 1.8.385 MMORPG Drastically Improves Chat and Effect Delays

Guild Software announced the release of a new maintenance update for their popular and cross-platform Vendetta Online MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) 3D space combat title.

According to the release notes, Vendetta Online 1.8.385 is an important milestone, and it’s here to drastically improve the chat and effect delays reported by users during larger capship battles by implementing a new dynamic server packet-queuing and priority change system, which was tested internally with 200 close-proximity capships per battle.

“The new server changes are pretty interesting, as they open the door for larger battle events, with the eventual goal of player contention for territory in the expanded universe. We plan to do some big events to help test this in the near future,” reads the announcement. “Prioritization only dynamically scales with larger numbers of ships per sector, so less populated regions and sectors are unaffected.”

VR Mode improvements, bug fixes

Among other noteworthy changes implemented in the Vendetta Online 1.8.385 update, we can mention a new customizable button or key, currently set for the right-click mouse button, for looking around in the simulated VR mode, and the removal of the dark background of the HUD notification text when not using the VR mode.

There are also various bug fixes, such as those Lua errors that occurred when joining a group while Voice Chat is enabled, or when capship owners launched their fighter while manned to a turret. For Mac OS X users, there’s better support for the new OpenGL 4 video driver as keyboard and mouse inputs won’t be dropped anymore.

To enhance the performance of the game with higher peak player counts, the Guild Software developers also managed to change the distribution of services within the game-server cluster in the Vendetta Online 1.8.385 update, which is now available for Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Android, and iOS operating systems.
