LibreOffice 4.4.3 RC2 Is Released

The Document Foundation has officially announced the release of LibreOffice 4.4.3 RC 2. This version is one step again to the final version of LibreOffice 4.4.3.

This new release is come after RC1 that released several weeks ago. Altough this is just minor fix release, but this is important to prepare to launch the final version soon. (more…)

LibreOffice is Available for Chromebook & iPad via rollApp

Thanks to the rollApp online virtualization technology, LibreOffice is now available on iPads, combating Apple’s iWork suite and other (third-party) productivity tools which generally cost money to use.

The official announcement was made on The Document Foundation Blog.

Setujukah dengan fork OpenOffice yang baru? LibreOffice

Kabar seteru baru seputar OpenOffice pasca diakuisisinya Sun oleh Oracle (begitu pula masalah lain atas produk Sun yang lain seperti VirtualBox, Java dan MySQL) kembali mencuat. Beberapa perusahaan dan yayasan open source menggalang kekuatan dan telah membentuk The Document Foundation.

Document Foundation ini sendiri adalah yayasan yang menaungi salah satu produk office hasil fork dari OpenOffice, yaitu LibreOffice. Mereka yang tergabung dalam yayasan ini melihat masa depan suram bagi OpenOffice jika terus dikuasai oleh satu vendor besar seperti Oracle, bisa-bisa dihentikan sama sekali atau dibiarkan mati seperti distribusi OpenSolaris. LibreOffice 3.5.6 Is Available

The Document Foundation is proud to announce that as of today, LibreOffice 3.5.6 is available.

The 3.5 series is currently being maintained in parallel to our newly released version 3.6, and is dedicated to more conservative users. Today’s release fixes a number of bugs, and is the recommended version for all users of the 3.5 series.

LibreOffice Cloud Is Coming Soon

Italo Vignoli, The Document Foundation’s spokesman, talked about the upcoming cloud version of the popular LibreOffice open source office suite.

According to Italo Vignoli, the LibreOffice Cloud is scheduled to be released next year, allowing LibreOffice users to store their documents in the cloud.

“The Android port is under way, but is the PORTING of the code to be around 80% (and not the CODING, which is still below 50%). The Android port is not a simple endeavor, and it will ask for a lot of CODING efforts once the PORTING has been completed.” (more…)

LibreOffice will have roadmap for cloud service next month

The Document Foundation (TDF), which produces the leading open source office software suite LibreOffice, is on schedule for the release of its plan to offer a cloud version of its software next month.

The team released the last update to its 3.4 build on Thursday and is now focused on developing version 3.5 further, but the group is now also ready to detail its plans for cloud services in April. That said, the team reserves the right to hold off on launch until the last few software fixes come in, TDF spokesman Italo Vignoli told The Register.

“At the moment we are focusing more on this because of some of the opportunities that are arising, which we can’t disclose now,” he explained. “We will have the cloud version roadmap out in April.”
