The GNOME Project sent an email to emka.web.id a few minutes ago, informing us of the release of the second Beta build of the upcoming GNOME 3.18 desktop environment, due for release on September 23, 2015.
We wrote several articles related to the core components or GNOME applications distributed as part of the GNOME 3.18 Beta 2 release all week, and we expected it to be available online yesterday, September 2, according to the official release schedule.
GNOME 3.17.91 is the technical version of this second Beta build and contains udpates to many important core components, including, but not limited to, GNOME Desktop, GNOME Disk Utility, GNOME Boxes, GNOME Shell, and GNOME System Monitor.
Additionally, we can see updated to most of the games included in the GNOME Games collection, as well as to well-known software like GNOME Logs, Mutter, Nautilus, GNOME Maps, GNOME Documents, GNOME Music, and GNOME Sound Recorder.
Moreover, the second Beta build of GNOME 3.18 includes updates to the Bijiben, Cheese, Devhelp, Evolution, File Roller, Orca, Polari, Rygel, Vinagre, NetworkManager, Eye of GNOME, GTK+, Totem, Vino, Clutter, Yelp, Pango, GDM, and many others.
First GNOME 3.18 point release coming in mid-October
The development cycle of the GNOME 3.18 desktop environment will continue with the Release Candidate (GNOME 3.17.92 RC) version, which should be seeded to testers worldwide starting September 16, and will conclude with the final release of GNOME 3.18 on September 23, twenty days from today.
After the release of the final version of the GNOME 3.18 open-source desktop environment, there will be a couple of point releases, GNOME 3.18.1 and GNOME 3.18.2. The first one will arrive around October 14, 2015, and promises to fix issues that will be reported by users since the release of GNOME 3.18.
Those of you who want to test this second Beta build of GNOME 3.18, should download the JHBuild modulesets and compile GNOME 3.17.91 by hand. However, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
