Linux News Today: Calibre 2.37.1 Released with New Driver for Lark Freebook E-Book Reader Devices

Kovid Goyal has had the pleasure of announcing a new version of his popular open-source and cross-platform Calibre e-book library management, reader, and converter software, which introduces several new features and addresses multiple issues.

Among the new features introduced in Calibre 2.37.1, we can mention a new driver that will allow users to connect Lark Freebook e-book reader devices, a revamped busy spinner, as well as the ability to display additional information about a target book record when they’re merged.

Moreover, there’s now a new icon theme, called Dark Blue, added to the growing collection of icons for Calibre, a feature that was introduced with the 2.36 version, and a new check box has been implemented in the “Add Empty Book” dialog to allow users to control the copying operation of e-book files while duplicating book records.

Several bugs have been fixed in this release

As expected, Calibre 2.37.1 fixes bugs that have been reported by users since the previous release of the software. Among these, we can mention a patch for the automatic fixing of unsafe IDs that didn’t work when the file that contained the unsafe data needed fixing for an unsafe filename in Edit Book’s Check Book function.

Last but not least, the informative error message for the themes button in the E-book viewer component has been fixed to no longer appear when there are no themes created, the library switch entries located at the bottom of the library menu now work even where there are multiple libraries, and the Amazon EU store plugins have been updated.

Download Calibre 2.37.1 for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X operating systems right now from Softpedia, where you will find binary packages for 64-bit and 32-bit hardware architectures, as well as the source package for those who want to compile the software by hand.
