Linux News Today: GnuCash 2.6.9 Free Accounting Software Patches Serious Bug on Windows OSes
The GnuCash Project has announced the immediate availability for download of the ninth point release for all supported operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.
According to the brief release notes, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, GnuCash 2.6.9 is a small bugfix release that patches three critical issues that have been reported by users since the previous version of the software, GnuCash 2.6.8.
First of all, it addresses a crash or freeze that occurred when attempting to use the File Save As action on Microsoft Windows operating systems. For this, the devs had to fix the termination of the loop so that it will no longer depend on the patch for GNU/Linux systems.
Then, GnuCash 2.6.9 addresses two other small issues, one related to the test-engine component, which failed when using duplicate test case paths, and another one related to grant of license for files with copyright. Moreover, the German language translation has been updated.
“The GnuCash development team humbly announces GnuCash 2.6.9, the nineth maintenance release in the 2.6-stable series, a snap release to repair a serious bug on Microsoft Windows. Please take the tour of all the new features,” reads the announcement.
GnuCash 2.6.9 comes two weeks after the announcement of the eighth maintenance version of the open-source, cross-platform and freely distributed GnuCash accounting software. Download GnuCash 2.6.9 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.
