Linux News Today: KDevelop 4.7.2 KDE IDE Ported to Python 3.4.3, KDevelop 5 Beta Coming Soon
On October 12, KDevelop developer Milian Wolff has had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of the KDevelop 4.7.2 open-source IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for KDE developers.
According to the announcement, KDevelop 4.7.2 is mainly a bugfix release that improves the overall stability of the software for the KDE 4 desktop environment. Prominent features include port to Python 3.4.3, the addition of missing quotes in cmake, improvements to Python macros for CMake, and replacement of the qDebug() function with the kDebug() one.
Moreover, this release sees the removal of the raw linker flag, requires the correct version of Python, adds Python 3.4.3 as a hard requirement, adds a workaround for the new behavior in Python 3.4.3, and implements support for introspecting in-project packages in the introspection script.
“I’m happy to announce the availability of KDevelop 4.7.2. This is a bug fix release increasing the stability of our KDE 4 based branch. Please update to this version if you are currently using 4.7.1 or older,” says Milian Wolff. “Many thanks to everyone involved! Stay tuned for the upcoming first beta release of KDevelop 5.”
First Beta of KDevelop 5 coming soon
In addition to the new features and improvements mentioned above, KDevelop 4.7.2 fixes a crash that occurred during attempts to find usage of var/function/class, automatically creates a folder for license templates, adds support for Apache Subversion 1.9, and fixes many other bugs reported by users since the previous version of the software.
In the end of the announcement, the KDevelop developers kindly inform us that the team is working hard to release the first Beta build of the next major release of the open-source IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for KDE developers, KDevelop 5, which will be ported to the KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5 technologies. Until then, you can download KDevelop 4.7.2 right now from Softpedia.
