Another month has passed, and it’s already April, so the time has come for the lightweight and flexible Arch Linux operating system to get its monthly ISO respin.
We hesitate to announce this yesterday because of April’s Fool day and all that, so we’re informing you about the release of the Arch Linux 2016.04.01 ISO image today, April 2, 2016, which you can download right now from the operating system’s website or via ours, whichever suits you best.
As usual, Arch Linux is distributed as a dual-arch ISO images, which means that you can boot and install it on either 64-bit (x86_64) or 32-bit (i386) hardware. What’s new? Well, as with any new Arch Linux ISO respin, most of the packages have been updated to their latest versions.
All the security patches released during the month of March are also present in today’s Arch Linux 2016.04.01 release, along with a new kernel version. Unfortunately, Arch Linux remains based on Linux kernel 4.4.5 LTS (Long Term Support), despite the fact that Linux kernel 4.4.6 LTS is out, as well as Linux kernel 4.5.
Arch Linux users don’t need to download anything
We’ve said it before, and we will say it again, Arch Linux users don’t need to download anything to keep their installations up to date. The Arch Linux ISO respins released monthly, usually on the first day of each month, are here only for newcomers who want to install the operating system or existing users who have decided to reinstall.
