Linux News Today: BakAndImgCD 18.0 Disk Imaging and Backup Live CD Now Available for Download

Softpedia has been informed by 4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki about the release and immediate availability for download of the BakAndImgCD 18.0 Live CD distrolette.

Based on the 4MLinux Backup Scripts 18.0, as well as the 4MLinux Core 18.0 distribution, which is currently in the Beta stages of development under the 4MLinux 18.0 umbrella, BakAndImgCD 18.0 is here as an alternative to popular disk cloning and system backup Live CDs.

For example, you can use BakAndImgCD instead of Clonezilla (free) or Parted Magic (commercial), to back up all the data from a certain disk partition or an entire drive, as well as to clone disk partitions with Partimage or Partclone and recover lost data from damaged disks using GNU ddrescue.

BakAndImgCD 18.0 includes the most recent GNU/Linux technologies to help you back up data from some of the most used file systems. These include EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, Btrfs, XFS, ReiserFS, Reiser4, JFS, F2FS, and NILFS2 on Linux-based systems, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS on Windows OSes, and HFS or HFS+ on Mac OS X.

BakAndImgCD is an official 4MLinux fork

BakAndImgCD has been created as an official 4MLinux fork, which means that it is regularly updated with the latest GNU/Linux technologies and software versions from the 4MLinux independent computer operating system. The latest version, BakAndImgCD 18.0, includes all the goodies from 4MLinux 18.0.

Today’s release of BakAndImgCD has been declared stable and ready for production use, despite the fact that 4MLinux 18.0 is currently in Beta. You can download the BakAndImgCD 18.0 Live CD ISO image right now via our website, write it on either a CD disc or a USB flash drive, and start cloning disk drives or backup data.

System administrators can use BakAndImgCD in combination with GParted Live and SystemRescueCD, as well as Clonezilla Live, for all of their disk partitioning, cloning, imaging, and backup needs. All these solutions are free and work with both 64-bit and 32-bit computers. More details about BakAndImgCD can be found on its homepage.
