Linux News Today: Chakra GNU/Linux Gets KDE Plasma 5.6.2, Frameworks 5.21.0, and LibreOffice 5.1.2
Chakra GNU/Linux maintainer Neofytos Kolokotronis announced just a few minutes ago the availability of the latest KDE technologies in the main repositories of the Arch Linux-based operating system.
Just like Arch Linux, Chakra GNU/Linux is a rolling release distribution, which means that users install it once and get free updates for the rest of their lives, or at least until they decide to move to another Linux kernel-based operating system.
Chakra GNU/Linux focused on the latest KDE software, so its maintainers are always updating the KDE technologies included in the distribution to recent releases, quite soon after they’re made available from upstream.
Therefore, we’re informing you today about the immediate availability of the KDE Plasma 5.6.2 desktop environment and KDE Frameworks 5.21.0 software in the main software repos of Chakra GNU/Linux.
“The latest updates for KDE’s Plasma and Frameworks series are now available to all Chakra users,” said Neofytos Kolokotronis in today’s announcement. “Most of our mirrors take 12-24h to synchronize, after which it should be safe to upgrade.”
Additionally, users can also update their LibreOffice installations to the latest 5.1.2 maintenance release, and it looks like the Steam for Linux installer was updated to version 188.8.131.52.
All these goodies are now live in Chakra GNU/Linux, and you can get them right now by applying all the available updates through your favorite package manager. If you don’t see the updates, please change to another mirror.
