Linux News Today: Fedora 24 Linux OS Gets New, Updated Lives ISOs with Latest Security Patches
Founder of The Fedora Unity Project and Fedora Ambassador, Ben Williams, is happy to report that updated Live ISO images of the Fedora 24 GNU/Linux operating system are now available for download.
Dubbed F24-20160720, the updated Live ISOs are respins of most of the Fedora 24 editions, including Fedora 24 Workstation (with the GNOME desktop environment), Fedora 24 KDE, Fedora 24 Xfce, Fedora 24 LXDE, Fedora 24 Cinnamon, and Fedora 24 MATE, along with a DVD image that contains only source packages.
“As always these respins can be found at http://tinyurl.com/Live-respins2. Using the updated isos will save about 500M of updates after install YMMV (Gold MATE install updates as of 20160720 is 513M),” says Ben Williams in the blog announcement. “I would like to thank the community and the seeders for their dedication to this project.”
The new Fedora 24 ISO images contain all the security updates and package versions that have been released via the main software repositories of the GNU/Linux distribution since its launch last month on June 21, 2016. However, it looks like these respins have been created only for 64-bit (x86_64) computers.
Designed for deploying Fedora 24 on new computers
If you’re wondering for who are designed these new respin ISO images of Fedora 24, we can tell you that they can be used to deploy the operating system on new PCs without having to get through all the trouble of download and installing lots of updated packages. Also, they will save you a lot of time if you want to reinstall your PC.
Without any further ado, you can download the Fedora 24 respin ISO images updated on July 20, 2016, from the link above, and remember to always keep your Fedora Linux installation up to date with the latest software releases and security patches (of course, you don’t need to download these ISOs for that).
