Linux News Today: System76 Is Giving Away a Lemur Laptop Preloaded with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

System76, a US-based hardware company known for building powerful computers with the popular Ubuntu Linux preloaded, has announced earlier that they are giving away one of their superb Lemur laptops during the Denver Mini Maker Faire event.

The DMMF (Denver Mini Maker Faire) is about to start, and it will take place on the weekend of June 11, 2016, in Denver, Colorado, USA. Attendees will be able to find arts and crafts, science and engineering, food and music, fire and water, and everything in between.

And it looks like System76 will have a booth there to showcase their latest and greatest Ubuntu-powered computers, including the ultra-thin, Full HD Lemur laptop, which they are gifting to one lucky visitor who registers at their booth.

Technical specifications of the System76 Lemur laptop

Powered by the latest Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, the Lemur laptop boasts a 6th-generation Intel Core i3-6100U or Intel Core i7-6500U CPU running at 2.30GHz with 3MB cache and 2.5GHz with 4MB cache, respectively.

Lemur comes with a gorgeous 14.1-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS display with a matte finish, an integrated Intel HD 520 graphics card, up to 16GB dual-channel DDR3 RAM running at 1600 MHz, as well as one M.2 SSD and one 2.5-inch, 7mm height drives supporting up to 2.5TB.

Connectivity-wise, the Lemur laptop ships with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a built-in SD card reader, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and support for the newest Intel Wireless-AC and Bluetooth technologies. An HDMI 1.4a port and a VGA port are also included.

Last but not least, the laptop sports stereo speakers, integrated stereo mic, a headphone jack, a 720p HD webcam, 5.1 channel (HDMI) audio output, and, of course, a removable 4-cell smart Li-Ion battery that will last longer than you think. Nevertheless, if you’re not the lucky winner of a Lemur laptop, you can customize your own right now.
