Linux News Today: Watch: Ubuntu Convergence in Action on Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition with Miracast

Earlier today, May 23, 2016, the Ubuntu Community Manager at Canonical, Mr. Alan Pope, received his Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition smartphone, so he immediately ran some tests to see the Ubuntu convergence with his own eyes.

If you’re one of our regular readers, you probably already know by now that Canonical, the company behind one of the most popular GNU/Linux operating systems in the world, Ubuntu, is working hard these days to push its Ubuntu convergence vision to users worldwide.

Well, not exactly worldwide, because none of the Ubuntu-powered devices are shipping/working in the US and some other countries, but they’re working on fixing this minor inconvenience, at least according to a recent comment posted by Canonical and Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth on Google+.

Back to Mr. Alan Pope, the Ubuntu Community Manager was one of the luckiest to get their hands on the new Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition smartphone, the only Ubuntu Phone to feature Miracast (Wireless Display) support by default. Therefore, he immediately made a video showing the world the Ubuntu convergence in action.

The video is quite short, as Alan Pope stated that he only tried to test is the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition device is connecting to his Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter attached to his LED TV. Shortly after, he made another video to show us the Meizu PRO 5 device in convergence mode with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected to it.
