Pidora 2014, Baru Dirilis dan Jadi Distro Raspberry Pi Termutakhir

Pidora 2014, an optimized Fedora Remix for Raspberry Pi, has been released by the CDOT team from Seneca College.

Pidora 2014 is based on the latest build of Fedora for the ARMv6 architecture and includes packages from the Fedora 20 package set, although not all the packages have been implemented.

“We’re excited to announce the release of Pidora 2014 — an optimized Fedora Remix for the Raspberry Pi. It is based on a brand new build of Fedora for the ARMv6 architecture with greater speed and includes packages from the Fedora 20 package set,” reads the official announcement.

Raspberry Pi turned out to be a very successful project and already a number of Linux distributions have made their debut on the new platform, such as Raspbian (based on Debian Wheezy), Pidora (Fedora Remix), OpenELEC (an XBMC Media Centre), RaspBMC (also an XBMC Media Centre), RISC OS (not actually Linux, but based on their own kernel), and Arch Linux, which needs no explanation.

According to the changelog, Rootfs-Resize now works with logical partitions, the raspberrypi kernel-devel package has been added, a Pidora 2014 splash screen has been implemented, new Pidora logos have been added, the Headless Mode has been improved and can now be used with setups lacking a monitor or a display, the boot speed has been increased, the graphical usability is now faster and a lot smoother with the help of the Xorg fbturbo driver, most of the Fedora 20 packages can now be set available via the yum command, and the firstboot configuration has been drastically improved.

Also, the distribution has been compiled specifically to take advantage of the hardware already built into the Raspberry Pi, the initial image size has been compacted, auto swap creation is now available to allow for larger memory usage, the C, Python, and Perl programming languages have been added in the SD card image, the IP address information can be read over the speakers and flashed with the LED light, the Gedit text editor can now be used with plugins, and libraries capable of supporting external hardware have been implemented.

Raspberry Pi relies on an ARM processor with a clock speed of 700 MHz, 512 MB of RAM, an SD card slot, and a 5V Micro USB connector that supplies the power. It also features RCA and HDMI ports. via Softpedia
