The October 2015 release of Arch Linux's ISO image has been released at the beginning of the month, but we didn't have the time to take a look at the new features and software updates implemented.

As many of you might know, the Arch Linux developers release a new build of the operating system's installation media at the beginning of each month. Therefore, Arch Linux 2015.10.01 ISO has been build for the month of October 2015, including all the updates and security patches released during the month of September 2015.

The biggest new changes in the Arch Linux 2015.10.01 ISO image is support for the Linux 4.2 kernel, as the September build was powered by Linux kernel 4.1.6 LTS. As such, users can now install Arch Linux with Linux kernel 4.2.2. Additionally, we can notice that the systemd init system has been updated to version 226.

Arch Linux is a rolling-release OS

You can grab the new ISO image, Arch Linux 2015.10.01, right now via Softpedia or directly from the distribution's website, where the GNU/Linux operating system is available for download as a dual-arch ISO-hybrid image that supports both 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386) hardware architectures.

As usual, we inform existing Arch Linux users that they do not need to download the new ISO image to keep their systems up to date. Arch Linux is a lightweight and independent operating system that follows a rolling release model, so to have all the latest updates that are being released run the "sudo pacman -Syu" command in a terminal.
