Linux News Today: Fedora 23 Beta Approved for September 22, Final Version Set for October 27

Posted on September 18, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

Just a few minutes ago, Fedora Project's Jan Kuřík informed us all that the Beta build of the upcoming Fedora 23 GNU/Linux operating system has been approved, and it will be seeded to testers worldwide on September 22, 2015.

The Fedora 23 Beta Go/No-Go meeting took place today, September 17, 2015, on the official IRC channels of the Fedora Project. There, the Fedora developers discussed if the Fedora 23 Beta, which is currently in freeze, is ready for release or not. So, the good new is that it has been approved for release and will arrive next Tuesday, according to the release schedule.

"At the Fedora 23 Beta Go/No-Go Meeting that just ends, was agreed to Go with the Fedora 23 Beta. Fedora 23 Beta is considered as GOLD," says Jan Kuřík, Platform and Fedora Program Manager. "Fedora 23 Beta will be publicly available on Tuesday, September 22, 2015."

As we've stated on the announcement for Fedora 23 Alpha, it looks like this release of the Fedora Linux operating system will most probably be one of the few to respect the initial release schedule set at the beginning of the development cycle, which will continue with the final release of Fedora 23 on October 27, 2015, if everything goes according to plan. Fedora developers are informed that the Final Freeze will take place on October 13, 2015.
