The developers of the Deepin Linux distribution designed from the ground-up to provide users with a beautiful, secure, stable, user-friendly, safe and reliable computer operating system have announced the release of Deepin 15 Alpha 2.
It has been awhile since we've heard from the Deepin developers, but we're glad to know that the project is still active and that the next major release, Deepin 15, get awesome new features and numerous under-the-hood improvements for a more reliable user experience.
Among some of the new features that landed in this second Alpha build of Deepin 15, we can mention the implementation of a brand-new system architecture, updates to numerous core components and applications, as well as great improvements to the resource consumption and the overall performance of the operating system.
Several enhancements were implemented into the internationalization system, among which we can mention multi-language display improvements and the addition of the mirror acceleration (CDN acceleration) function. Deepin 15 Alpha 2 also comes with a brand-new window manager.
"To hear the users’ need and respond to users’ confusion, we have built a complete assistance/feedback system. Deepin Manual, Deepin User Feedback and Remote Assistance have formally been added to the system. We will be able to respond in the first time for your request for help or feedback," reads the announcement.
Many of the pre-installed software received updates
Deepin 15 Alpha 2 also updates many of the pre-installed software, but first let's take a look at the Deepin Store app, which has been updated to version 4.0, it has greatly simplified, it now integrates the system update function in the control center, and moves the uninstallation function to the launcher.
Among the updated apps, we can mention the Google Chrome web browser, QQ chat client, Deepin File Manager, Deepin Text Editor, Wubi input method with support for Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese languages, and WPS Office as the default office suite. The Brasero, Remmina, and Deepin Translator apps have been removed.
You can download Deepin 15 Alpha 2 right now from Softpedia, where it is distributed for free as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware architectures, 64-bit and 32-bit. However, please keep in mind that this is a pre-release operating system, not ready for production use.
