Today, June 14, 2016, Softpedia has been informed by Logic Supply about the general availability of CL100, the tiny, fanless, and ventless industrial PC that promises to offer more than meets than eye.
This is not the first time we discuss here CL100, as Logic Supply announced the upcoming availability of the Braswell-powered mini PC based on Intel’s popular NUC form factor back in March 2016. The CL100 was supposed to be unveiled at the Digital Signage Expo 2016 at the end of March, and now it is finally available for purchase from the company’s website for the mere price of $302 (€270) without a primary storage device or $347 (€310) with a 32GB mSATA SSD.
Commercialized by Logic Supply as a 4K media player, CL100 is being delivered in a familiar, small form factor, offering users the possibility of installing either the popular Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) Linux distributions, as well a Microsoft Windows operating system. Designed as a ventless and fanless industrial computer, CL100 doesn’t have any moving parts, and it’s mainly targeted at digital signage applications.
“Fanless systems are quickly becoming the go-to solution for both industrial and consumer computing. The CL100 combines a variety of I/O and impressive processing performance with a small form factor that can go wherever it’s needed. We wanted to create a computer that could truly live up to the idea of ‘Anything, Anywhere,’ and we think the CL100 fits that bill,” says Hans Brakeley, Mechanical Engineer, Logic Supply.
CL100’s technical specifications
As mentioned before, don’t let the size of CL100 fool you, as it’s proving to be quite a powerful computer. It boasts a 6th generation Intel Quad-Core Braswell Celeron N3150 processor running at 1.6 GHz or 2.08 GHz thanks to max turbo frequency, up to 16GB non-ECC DDR3L RAM running at 1600 MHz, and on-board Intel HD graphics. It also features Realtek RT8111G Gigabit LAN controller, mSATA storage support up to 512GB, as well as a PCIe mini card (half-height) expansion slot.
Looking at the images attached below, we can notice that CL100 offers two USB 3.0 ports, one of which is a USB Type-C, and an audio jack/speaker/mic-in on the front, as well as two HDMI ports. There are also a single DisplayPort, one Gigabit LAN port, two USB 3.0 ports, and one DC input jack (12 V) on the back.
