The Tiny Core Linux 7.1 operating system was officially released this past weekend as the first update in the 7.x series of one of the smallest yet extensible GNU/Linux distributions on the market.

After being in development from the beginning of the month, Tiny Core Linux 7.1 had a short development cycle, during which it received two RC (Release Candidate) builds. The first one implemented syslogd -L after -R in the tc-config components, as well as moved the rebuildfstab call to the mnttool utility in the mountables.sh script.

The second Release Candidate version of Tiny Core Linux 7.1 upgraded the BusyBox collection of UNIX utilities from version 1.24.1 to 1.24.2, bringing users the latest and most advanced command-line tools, and increased of BusyBox syslogd's buffer size from 256 to 512. Another interesting change was that syslog was moved after the hostname in the tc-config component.

All the changes mentioned above, along with the ability of the mnttool utility to be refreshed automatically are now present in the final Tiny Core Linux 7.1 release, which you can download right now via our website as Live ISO images for 64-bit and 32-bit platforms. Tiny Core Linux 7.1 is being distributed in the usual Tiny Core, Core, and Tiny Core Plus editions.
