Arne Exton has had the pleasure of informing Softpedia earlier today about the immediate availability for download of a new build of his Ubuntu-based LFA (Linux For ALL) distribtions.
According to Mr. Exton, the LFA (Linux For ALL) Build 151024 has been completely revamped and it is now based on the recently released Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) computer operating system and the Fluxbox window manager, but still includes various elements from the Debian GNU/Linux 8.1 (Jessie) distribution.
Being a total rebuild and all that, LFA (Linux For ALL) Build 151024 updates all the installed core components and applications to their latest versions available as of October 24, 2015, and it’s powered by Mr. Exton’s special 4.2.0-16-exton kernel, which is based on the upstream Linux kernel 4.2.3.
“A new upgraded version of LFA is out. All installed packages have been updated to the latest version as of 151024,” said Arne Exton in an email to Softpedia. “The system is based on Ubuntu 15.10, codenamed Wily Werewolf and Debian Jessie (Debian 8.1). It’s a total rebuild. I.e. nothing is left of the old LFA system. It includes my special kernel 4.2.0-16-exton.”
Includes Google Chrome, SMPlayer, and Synaptic Package Manager
The software collection of the LFA (Linux For ALL) distribution has always been great, and we can report that the latest build comes with the Google Chrome web browser, which can be used to watch Netflix movies, the Synaptic Package Manager for installing additional software, and the powerful, MPlayer-based SMPlayer video player.
Additionally, the distribution includes the Cairo-Dock dock-like application launcher, the Dreamweaver-like BlueGriffon HTML editor, GParted partition editor, PCManFM file manager, Adobe Flash Player plugin, and all the necessary tools needed for compiling program from sources.
