Adrian Raulete informed Softpedia about the release of the first Beta build of his upcoming Rescatux 0.40 Live CD, which can be used for performing system administration tasks on both GNU/Linux and Windows PCs.
According to Mr. Raulete, the biggest new feature of Rescatux 0.40 Beta 1 is the addition of support for the Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) kernel security module, which will promote the project to users of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora, and CentOS operating systems. For example, it will now be possible to change password option.
“Adding SELinux support to Rescatux is a huge improvement because Fedora, RHEL and CentOS users will be more prone to use it,” said the developer in an email to Softpedia. “It’s about being able to interact with SELinux based system without damaging original contexts (contexts like additional permissions in SELinux).”
Another interesting feature of the Rescatux 0.40 Beta 1 release is the rebasing of the Live CD on the latest stable version of the Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie) operating system, which means that users will now be able to select personalized country, language, and keyboard settings.
Among other interesting features that will be implemented in the final version of Rescatux 0.40, we can mention GUID Partition Table (GPT) support, UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) boot support, as well as the addition of the Easy Windows Admin and Easy Grub fix options.
