Linux News Today: GnuCash 2.6.11 Free Accounting Software Fixes a QIF Import Regression, More Bugs

Posted on January 13, 2016 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

The development team behind the GnuCash free, open-source and cross-platform accounting software, have announced today, January 12, 2016, the release of the GnuCash 2.6.11 update for all supported platforms.

According to the release notes, which we've attached at the end of the article for reference, GnuCash 2.6.11 is mostly a bugfix release that patches a regression introduced in GnuCash 2.6.10, which affected the import of QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) file into the application.

However, the GnuCash developers also managed to fix several bugs that have been reported by users since the previous maintenance release of the software. Among these, we can mention support for calculating the Scheduled Transaction formula when mixing variables with constants, as well as a crash that occurred during imports.

Furthermore, an issue with a repeating SX has been resolved, a crash that occurred during imports of bills or invoices while using delimited import was patched, a missing flag that was translatable in Custom Report has been added, and the invoice number counter will no longer be reset when canceling the duplication of invoices or bills.

"The GnuCash development team announces GnuCash 2.6.11, a snap release to fix a QIF import regression and the eleventh maintenance release in the 2.6-stable series," reads today's announcement. "If you are updating from gnucash 2.6.0-2.6.4 on linux, you are advised to remove the guile user cache or several parts of gnucash may fail to work properly."

Several other issues have been repaired

As mentioned, GnuCash 2.6.11 is all about bugfixes, and the development team managed to remove the translate flag from the placeholder labels in a dialog date-close for improving translations comments, as well as to add better support for converting transactions' currency, thus making reconciliation possible again.

Last but not least, the Account.AssignLots function has been added to Python bindings, it is now possible to adjust the panel that offers information about TXF categories (the new functionality has been implemented in the Income Tax Information dialog, via the Edit menu's Tax Report Options), and the German translation has been updated.
