The developers of the KDE-oriented Calligra office suite have announced the release and immediate availability for download of the eleventh maintenance release in the Calligra 2.9 series of the open-source project.

As expected, Calligra 2.9.11 is only a bugfix release, and it is here to improve the overall performance and compatibility of the office suite used by numerous GNU/Linux users on their KDE desktop environments.

For this release, the team implemented most of the changes only for the Krita digital painting and Kexi database creator software, but they report the fact that there might be other improvements not mentioned in the announcement.

"We are pleased to announce availability of the Calligra Suite, and Calligra Active 2.9.11. It is recommended update for the 2.9 series of the applications and underlying development frameworks," developers explained.

Krita 2.9.11 to be the last in the series

For Kexi 2.9.11, the development team managed to add a commercially developed upgrade for the MDB (Microsoft Access Database import functionality, donated by Jarosław Staniek, as well as to add various improvements to tables, queries, forms, reports, and even the main window.

On the other hand, Krita 2.9.11 received approximately ten fixes for some of the most annoying issues reported by users, and the devs published a separate announcement where they stated that this might just be the last maintenance release in the series, along with details about the new features of Krita 3.0 Alpha 2.

As expected, if you're running Calligra 2.9.10 or a previous version on your Linux box, you are urged to upgrade to the Calligra 2.9.11 release as soon as possible.
