We've been informed today, February 8, by Mr. Łukasz Zemczak of Canonical about the latest work done in preparation for the upcoming OTA software updates for Ubuntu Phone devices.

As you may know already, some Ubuntu Phone users complained about the fact that they encounter a serious bug that makes their devices unstable during incoming calls, but it looks like the Ubuntu Touch devs can't yet reproduce it, thus they'll have to wait a little longer for a patch. In the meantime, the team is trying hard to migrate all the fixes to users as soon as possible.

"As mentioned in an earlier follow up e-mail, we still don't have fixes for the most annoying issues from OTA-9 so, even if we wanted, we have not too much to release to the users bugfix-wise," said Łukasz Zemczak, Ubuntu Foundations. "Let's hope that the mir team will be able to reproduce and triage the biggest blocker - the phone not usable while a call comes in."

Work on OTA-9.5 and OTA-10 continues

We reported a few days ago the that OTA-9.5 hotfix might not get to see the light of day after all, but in today's report of Mr. Zemczak, we've noticed the fact that the Ubuntu Touch developers continue to concentrate all of their efforts on both the OTA-9.5 hotfix and the major OTA-10 update, which should arrive in early March 2016 for all supported Ubuntu Phone devices.

Until the Mir team over Canonical resolves the nasty issue mentioned above, the Ubuntu Touch team also works hard on the enablement of their first tablet platform, the BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition, which just got the "frieza" codename. Besides that, there's new images available in the devel-proposed channels for those who want to live on the bleeding-edge.
