We've just been informed by Ruarí Ødegaard of Vivaldi about the immediate availability for download of the first minor point release in the stable branch of the web browser.
The Vivaldi 1.0.435.42 update has just been released for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows (see download links at the end of the article), and it patches an address bar spoofing vulnerability discovered by Tsubasa Iinuma of Gehirn Inc..
Additionally, today's update to Vivaldi, which got its first-ever stable release, version 1.0, on April 6, 2016, fixes a minor issue with the built-in Note panel, allowing users to add a first note by clicking the "+" button. Therefore, we recommend all users to update to Vivaldi 1.0.435.42 as soon as possible.
Vivaldi 1.1 will be rebased on Chromium 50
It looks like Vivaldi 1.0 has been received very well by the Linux community, and many users are trying it out right now, thinking of migrating away from other proprietary web browsers like Opera or Google Chrome. Vivaldi is also based on the open-source Chromium project and supports Chrome extensions.
"Shortly after the release of the final we were informed of an issue that could allow a malicious website to trick a user into thinking they were surfing on a different domain. Since we take our users security very seriously, we got this fixed immediately and have just issued a minor update to version 1.0," said Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing at Vivaldi.

If you're running the stable version of Vivaldi 1.0 on your Linux box, you don't need to download anything, just make sure you update your system using the default package manager. The next major update to the web browser, Vivaldi 1.1, will be rebased on Chromium 50.
