A few moments ago, May 3, 2016, ownCloud Inc. announced the general availability of multiple maintenance releases for all of its supported branches of the ownCloud self-hosting cloud server.

ownCloud 9.0.2, 8.2.4, 8.1.7, 8.0.12, and 7.0.14 were made available for download for existing users, who are urged to update their installations to these new versions as soon as possible. Thus, they are bringing fixes for reported bugs, as well as various lower-severity security patches and hardenings.

"Updating to the latest version is recommended, however, please note that ownCloud 7.x will reach End of Life in May 2016, at which point support will be discontinued for all versions of ownCloud 7.x Enterprise Edition. So if you are running any version of ownCloud 7, now might be an ideal time to upgrade," reads today's announcement.

Release highlights of ownCloud 9.0.2 include support for scrolling in the announcement center, the ability to check if the index has been set before attempting to use it, updates to the latest AWS (Amazon Web Services) SDK version, and the ability to display the right message when "Files Drop" links are deleted.

Shared links should work much better now, especially during upgrades, the error messages about the latest ownCloud version were resolved, a fatal PHP error that could have occurred during cron execution was avoided, and getUid will no longer be called on null for trashbin recall through cron.

Lastly, ownCloud will now error out when the local storage is not configured correctly. All users of the ownCloud 9.0, 8.2, 8.1, 8.0, and 7.0 branches are urged to update to today's 9.0.2, 8.2.4, 8.1.7, 8.0.12, and 7.0.14 maintenance releases as soon as possible.
