Calibre is a powerful application that can be used to read, convert, and edit eBooks, among many other functions. The developer has just released a new update for it, and a new version is now available for download.
One of the features present in Calibre is the ability to connect to pretty much any kind of device out there that has a memory. This is possible because the developer implements support for all the requested and released devices. For example, the current iteration of Calibre comes with support for the new Kobo Touch 2, among other things.
In addition, it’s worth pointing out that Calibre recently got the ability to edit eBooks, and this is a major feature for the application. Users can now not only convert books from one format to another but also create new books from scratch or edit the ones they already have. This opens up Calibre to a host of new users, and it also makes the app impossible to ignore.

This latest version of the application is not a big release by any standard, but the support for Kobo Touch 2 is pretty important since this is one of the most used brands for eBook readers.
According to the changelog, a tool to check external links (links pointing to websites) has been added (via Tools->Check external links), an option to turn off drag and drop editing of text has been implemented, and two new icon themes, Primo+ and Black Edition, have been added as well.
Also, the sort/link values are now being copied properly, the conversion options are now copied correctly when copying books between libraries, and some of the news sources have been improved as well.
