What is Bigfoot ?
Bigfoot is A jQuery plugin that shows how footnotes and referrals are handled on a Web page, moving away from the classic book-like system .
By default, footnotes are wrote down via a number and an explanation at the bottom of a page.That’s how books have been doing, and Web designers copied this without thinking of the user experience.This changed recently, when Wikipedia changed the way it references its footnotes, showing them inside a popup window, right next to the reference itself.Bigfoot works the same way, showing footnotes right where the referral annotation is, via a popup tooltip.An additional mode is packed as well, showing a popup toolbar at the bottom of the page when the reference is accessed.
