After more than a year of hard work, Milian Wolff from the KDevelop project has had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download and testing of the first Beta build of KDevelop 5.0.0.
According to the announcement, most parts of the upcoming KDevelop 5.0 open-source IDE (Integrated Development Environment) software have been ported to the next-generation KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5 technologies, and the legacy semantic analysis and C++ parser plugin has been replaced with a Clang-based one.
“After more than a year of continuous work by our community, I’m very pleased to finally announce the first beta release of KDevelop 5.0.0. This release is made up of hundreds of commits, and marks a huge step forward,” says Milian Wolff in the release notes of KDevelop 5.0.0 Beta.
Additionally, the CMake interpreter written by hand has been removed, a huge part of the code has been cleaned up, various workflows have been drastically improved, and semantic language support for JavaScript and QML programming languages has been (finally) integrated, along with a project manager for QMake.
Those of you who want to try KDevelop 5.0 can download the Beta build right now from Softpedia, just please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, which contains unresolved issues. Thus, we don’t recommend using it on production systems.
