Today, August 1, 2016, 4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki informs Softpedia about the availability of the Beta milestone of the upcoming 4MRecover 19.0 data recovery Live CD.
Based on the latest Beta release of the 4MLinux 19.0 GNU/Linux operating system, 4MRecover 19.0 is now ready for public testing and it appears to include the usual TestDisk 7.0 and PhotoRec 7.0 utilities for recovering lost partitions and files from damaged disks and removable drives.
4MRecover is now a GNU/Linux operating system per se, but only a Live ISO image that users can put on a bootable USB flash disk or a CD/DVD disc and use on any machine to recover images and other file types, or undelete disk partitions. As such, 4MRecover works independently of a computer OS.
The latest release, 4MRecover 19.0, is currently being distributed as part of a project called 4MRescueKit, which also includes 4MParted, a Live ISO that lets users partition disk drivers independent of an operating system. It’s also worth noting the fact that 4MRecover comes with the Midnight Commander (MC) file manager installed by default.
