The Evad3rs are out with a new patch for users of evasi0n7, the team’s official iOS 7 jailbreak, providing the ability to “untether” the hack for anyone using a tethered iOS 7 jailbreak.
According to the Evad3rs, “This is the untethered exploit installed by the evasi0n7 jailbreaking tool. If you jailbroke you device with evasi0n7, this untether has already been automatically installed for you.”
Compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and iPad mini models on iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4, evasi0n 7.x Untether 0.2 is reportedly what came with version 1.0.1 of the jailbreak tool.
Namely, “It removes the TaiG splash screen and adds some features that saurik will be relying on in future updates to other packages. Users who jailbreak with evasi0n7 1.0.1 already have version 0.2 of this package installed,” according to the Evad3rs.
As a last note (more of a warning really), the team says, “If your device relies on evasi0n7 for untethering, uninstalling this package will unjailbreak your device.”
While attempting to reboot, the device will exhibit “bizarre” behavior. Users who find themselves in this situation will have no choice but to connect their device to iTunes and restore it manually.
A number of warnings involving the evasi0n7 jailbreak are also posted on evasi0n.com, the last of which involves failed iPad 2 hacks.
“Warning! We have reports that the iPad 2 (wifi) is not yet compatible with the jailbreak and will certainly get stuck in a reboot loop. Avoid trying evasi0n on that model till we make further investigations,” the team says.
Other warning signs mention Cydia tweaks and how many of them are still incompatible with iOS 7. And many of those that are compatible with iOS 7 are not compatible with 64-bit hardware (A7-chip devices like the iPhone 5s and iPad Air).
