Linux News Today: Mozilla Releases Firefox 41.0.1 Hotfix to Patch Five Critical Issues, Users Urged to Update Now

Posted on October 01, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

On the last day of September, Mozilla pushed the first point release of the recently announced Mozilla Firefox 41.0 web browser to users worldwide, a hotfix build that patches five critical issues.

According to the release notes posted a few minutes ago on the company's website, Mozilla Firefox 41.0.1 patches a crash that occurred during startup in the mozilla::layers::CompositorD3D11::GetTextureFactoryIdentifier() function, as well as a crash in the mozilla::gl::GLBlitHelper::BlitImageToTexture class.

Moreover, another crash has been fixed, this time in the nsStyleSet::GatherRuleProcessors(nsStyleSet::sheetType) class, which occurred during application startup and appears to be related to the Adblock Plus extension and the Yandex Toolbar. Various issues with the Adobe Flash plugin have been resolved as well.

Last but not least, Mozilla Firefox 41.0.1 resolves some issues that occurred while attempting to change the properties of a newly added bookmark, which will no longer affect the last bookmark in the current container. As expected, all users of Mozilla Firefox 41.0 are urged to update to version 41.0.1 as soon as possible.

To update, use the built-in updater utility that is available in the About dialog of Mozilla Firefox. Alternatively, you can download the Mozilla Firefox 41.0.1 binaries, as well as the source code for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.
