Linux News Today: Opera 33 Web Browser Enters Beta with Native Linux Notifications, Vibrancy in OS X

Posted on October 02, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

On October 1, Opera Software, through Kornelia Mielczarczyk, announced the promotion of the Opera 33 web browser for computers to the Beta channel, available now for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

According to the release announcement, the biggest new feature implemented in Opera 33 Beta is Vibrancy in the Mac OS X computer operating system from Apple, which makes the web browser's user interface look nicer thanks to the implementation of a partially transparent frame.

Then there's the addition of support for proprietary codecs for the Web Audio API, which can load MP3 and MP4 (H.264) codecs to the JavaScript web audio implementation, and last but not least, Linux notifications that inform users about various events, based on the well-known libnotify library.

"Today we are happy to present you our brand new Opera 33 beta. This release contains several improvements," says Kornelia Mielczarczyk, Product Tester at Opera Software. "From now on, we are going to focus on stabilization and bug fixing. For full list of flags, features and bug fixes, please check the changelog."

Opera 33 Beta build 1990.11 adds even more improvements about which you can read in detail on the official changelog. In the meantime, you can download Opera 33 Beta for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.
