After pushing the source archive on the official FTP servers of the project a couple of days ago, the Calligra developers were extremely happy to announce earlier today, October 9, the general availability of Calligra 2.9.8 and Calligra Active 2.9.8.
According to the release notes, Calligra 2.9.8 is mostly a bugfix release that makes the toolbox icons look good on the CentOS operating system, increase the maximum default toolbox size to 22px, as well as to patch a crash that occurred when attempting to type a weird color-set name in the Color Set dialog.
Moreover, Calligra Flow is now capable of updating the page count and canvas when the user deletes the current page, and Calligra Stage will no longer keep temporary files, gets a patch for a crash that occurred when attempting to load a LibreOffice Impress presentation, and lets users uses the Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End shortcuts for navigating to top and bottom of a text shape.
“The Calligra team announce availability of the Calligra Suite, and Calligra Active 2.9.8. It is recommended update that improves the 2.9 series of the applications and underlying development frameworks,” says Jarosław Staniek on behalf of the Calligra team.
Kexi receives dozens of improvements
In addition to the changes mentioned above, the Kexi database creator tool received a great number of improvements that you can view in detail on the release notes attached at the end of the article.
Unfortunately, there’s no information about the new features implemented in the Krita digital painting software at the moment of writing this article, but rest assure that we will write a separate article for Krita 2.9.8 as soon as the devs publish the changelog.
Until then, all users of the Calligra open-source office suite can update now to version 2.9.8 either by using the binary packages from the default software repositories of their GNU/Linux distributions or by download the source archive right now from Softpedia.
