AMD just announced a few minutes ago the release and immediate availability for download of the AMD Catalyst 15.9 proprietary graphics driver for GNU/Linux operating systems.
According to the release notes, which were posted on Reddit a few hours before the release of the software, AMD Catalyst 15.9 adds great performance improvements to the Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive games, and fixes numerous bugs reported by users since the previous release of the video driver.
Among the most important changes, we can mention installation improvements on the Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system, better support for the latest X.Org and X.Org Server software when the AMD Catalyst installer attempts to remove the EGL links, and the ability to switch the desktop mode after installing the driver.
Several well-known games received all sorts of performance improvements in AMD Catalyst 15.9. For example, Company of Heroes 2 no longer crashes when running the performance test, a Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor corruption has been fixed, and a corruption and a crash in DIRT Showdown have been addressed.

As usual, some issues remain unresolved in this release of the AMD Catalyst graphics driver for GNU/Linux operating systems, such as Vari-Brigh related issues where users are unable to decrease the brightness on certain configurations, as well as corruptions or blank screen issues with the Alien: Isolation’s main menu.
