Linux News Today: Fedora Linux 23 Beta Is Now in Freeze, Will Be Released on September 22

Posted on September 14, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

Dennis Gilmore from the Fedora Project hasĀ informed all Fedora Linux developers and package maintainers that the Beta Freeze for the upcoming Fedora 23 Beta build is in effect starting September 10, 2015.

According to the official release schedule for Fedora Linux 23, we are currently in the Beta Freeze week until September 22, 2015, when the Beta build of the popular GNU/Linux operating system will be seeded to users worldwide. Therefore, developers should only push updates to their packages if they contain important fixes.

"This means that only packages which fix accepted blocker or freeze exception bugs will be marked as 'stable' and included in the Beta composes," says Dennis Gilmore. "Other builds will remain in updates-testing until the Beta release is approved, at which point the Beta freeze is lifted and packages can move to 'stable' as usual until the Final freeze."

Fedora Linux developers are also being informed that September 10 was the "Change Checkpoint: 100% Code Complete Deadline" for Fedora 23, which means that new accepted changes must be code complete. The development cycle of Fedora Linux 23 will continue with the Final Freeze on October 13.

The final release of Fedora 23 should see the light of day on October 27, 2015, if everything goes according to plan and nothing gets delayed. We will keep you guys informed with the development of the Fedora 23 Linux distro in the coming days.
