Maren Hachmann from the m23 project, an open-source deployment and management system for Linux, has sent us an email to inform our readers about the immediate availability for download of m23 Rock 15.2.
From the looks of it, m32 Rock 15.2 is a major release, bringing support for the latest Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie), Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela), and Linux Mint 17.1 (Rebecca) Linux kernel-based operating systems, support for the systemd init system, replacing the old SysVinit one, as well as a significant number of under-the-hood improvements.
Of course, the number one feature of the m23 release is the support for Debian 8, which can be installed on multiple machines using either the m23 server installation ISO image or the pre-configured VirtualBox appliance. Additionally, the Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie) operating system is also supported on m23 clients.
Users who will use the m23 Rock 15.2 tool to deploy Debian 8 on multiple computers are informed by Mr. Hachmann that all of Debian’s desktop environments are supported, including MATE, Cinnamon, KDE, GNOME, Xfce, LXDE, and TDE (Trinity Desktop Environment).
“With m23 rock 15.2, Debian 8 Jessie has found its way into m23. For use on the clients, the distributions Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela and Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca have been added,” says Maren Hachmann. “Security is another focus of this release, which brings an integrated firewall and extends access protection.”

In addition to adding support for Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie), systemd, and the two Linux Mint editions, m23 Rock 15.2 is here to introduce automated mirror selection, a new functionality that ensures the permanent availability of m23 client’s packages, despite the fact that SourceForge’s severs are down.
