Linux News Today: Postal 2 Finally Released on Linux Alongside the Paradise Lost DLC

Posted on September 22, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

Running With Scissors is the famous developer of the Postal 2 FPS that got a lot of people upset when it was released all the way back in 2003. Now, after 15 years, Postal 2 has finally landed on Linux as well.

It's a mystery why the developers from Running With Scissors waited so long to release Portal 2 for the Linux platform, especially since many of the other studios are doing the same. In any case, users will get both the Postal 2 game and the expansion called Paradise Lost.

"Blast, chop and [expletive] your way through a freakshow of American caricatures in this darkly humorous first-person adventure. Meet Krotchy: the toy mascot gone bad, visit your Uncle Dave at his besieged religious cult compound and battle sewer-dwelling Taliban when you least expect them!" reads the Steam entry.

The guys from Running With Scissors have taken this opportunity to also release a patch for the game, and a number of performance improvements have been made, some new AW-style bloody skins have been added for weapons, the RAFIBOMB achievement has been fixed, and a lot more changes have been made.

The system requirements for Postal 2 haven't been posted just yet, but it's unlikely that they will be all that big. This is, after all, a game from 2003. Users will need pretty much any kind of relatively modern distribution, a 2GHz processor, a video card at least from Geforce 9600 upwards (older might do just fine), and even the newer Intel HD should do just fine.
