On November 17, Canonical’s David Planella has published his bi-monthly report about the work done by members of the Ubuntu Community Team during the first two weeks of November 2015.
According to Mr. Planella, the team managed to host yet another successful UOS (Ubuntu Online Summit) event between November 3-5, which appears to be one of the most crowded UOS events in history, for which the full video recordings and tracks summaries have been published.
Ubuntu has been accepted into the upcoming Google Code-In contest, which will take place between December 7, 2015 and January 25, 2016, so the team has started preparing their Google Code-In application, as well as to search for mentors from the Ubuntu community to help them during the contest.
Moreover, the Ubuntu Community Team successfully organized the Ubuntu Community Council election, activated the global meetup.com account for LoCo team groups who want to participate in testing Ubuntu using Pilot, define the UbuCon Summit sponsorship opportunities and continue preparing for the upcoming event.
Also, they managed to finalize the UbuCon @ FOSSETCON schedule for November 19, 2015. “Here are some highlights of what the Ubuntu Community Team at Canonical together with some other community members have been working on in the last two weeks,” said David Planella, Ubuntu Community Team Manager at Canonical.
Ubuntu Touch core apps and developer website news
For the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system, the Ubuntu Community Team managed to publish the first pre-release version of the upcoming LibreOffice DocViewer app based on LibreOfficeKit, update the File Manager app with support for opening remote files, update the Terminal app with minor improvements to the font size.
Last but not least, the Ubuntu Developer website has been updated with support for the latest Django CMS upgrade, fixes to the Snappy Ubuntu Core section, improvements to the Snappy pages, digest feedback from Ubuntu Online Summit, improvements to the “Get Started” section, markdown importer fixes, and the ‘gadget snap list’ plugin.
