We reported the other day that the GNOME developers had finally released the third milestone towards the upcoming GNOME 3.20 desktop environment, bringing it closer to reality.
While we’ve written all week about some of the most important GNOME applications and core components that have been updated as part of the GNOME 3.19.3 development release, we still want to share with you one more.
The GNOME Documents app has also been updated to version 3.19.3, now distributed as part of GNOME 3.19.3, and according to the internal changelog (attached at the end of the article for reference), it appears to be an important release.
Dubbed “Merge Cowboy,” GNOME Documents 3.19.3 adds support for displaying DjVu files as eBooks, lets users change the sort order for the main view, and renames the “Recent” view to “Documents” or “Books,” depending on what you’re viewing.
Moreover, it adds the ability to change the selection mode using the Ctrl+a keyboard shortcut, displays a spinner during the creation of the first collection of documents, and restores the separate collection for Documents and Books.
GNOME Documents gets more improvements and fixes
In addition to the new features mentioned above, GNOME Documents now updates the layout of the selection toolbar, disables the Print menu if no printer is available, and links the preview searchbar with the previous and next buttons.
Furthermore, the new GNOME Documents version adds screenshots to AppData, no longer hides the navigation controls during hovering, implements the new keyboard shortcuts overlay, and updates various language translations.
Among the bugs fixes, we can mention that GNOME Documents 3.19.3 addresses various installation issues, and patches some warnings that appeared when closing the full-screen view, for which it fixes the dropped keypresses during searches.
Last but not least, the content of the “Books” view is no longer inverted in night mode, the background of tagged entries is now fixed, and users should no longer see an extra menu when the App Menu is disabled.
