The Vivaldi development team, through Ruarí Ødegaard, has announced today, March 10, 2016, the availability of the first snapshot build, for public testing, of the upcoming web browser since the release of the third Beta.
Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.418.3 is, as expected, a bugfix release, as the final version of Vivaldi 1.0, which will also be the first stable build of the Chromium-based web browser, is just around the corner and might be unveiled this spring.
Therefore, the Vivaldi developers are currently concentrating on addressing as many as possible of the issues reported by users so that Vivaldi 1.0 will be an error-free release that works out of the box. Of course, some annoying things might still be present, but they will most certainly be patched in point releases.
“It’s been five days since the Beta 3 and we have another big pile of fixes and improvements for you! Some highlights include fixes to a number of bugs that you, our regular snapshot users, have requested,” says Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing at Vivaldi.
Disappointed Firefox users should jump on the Vivaldi bandwagon
There are almost 50 bugfixes implemented in Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.418.3, which is now available for download for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, as well as Microsoft Windows operating systems, so we recommend reading the official changelog, which we’ve also attached below if you’re curious to know what exactly has been changed.
In the meantime, if you’re one of the disappointed Firefox users because the 45.0 update released yesterday removed the Tab Groups (Panorama) feature, Vivaldi devs recommend that you join their community and get started with the upcoming web browser as soon as possible, as it may offer something you’re probably missing from other similar products.
