A new Humble Weekly Bundle has been released, and it comes with a ton of Linux games. Furthermore, some of the games that are available in this collection also come with the source code.
The Humble Bundle collections are usually populated with games that don’t have any kind of DRM protection, and from time to time they also feature Linux support. Now, the developers have taken this a step further, and some of them have decided to also offer the source code for the game.
Normally, we would really recommend this Humble Bundle collection because it has only a couple of Linux gamers, but this one is different. No less than eight games come with the source code, which can be used with the help of GameMaker: Studio Pro. Unfortunately, this is a Windows-only application, but games can be exported for the Linux platform.
More games should come with the source code
The source code of a game is usually protected and users don’t get access to it. In some very rare cases, studios release the code for some very old games. This is different and it should set an example for future Humble Bundle collections.
“The games in this bundle are available DRM-free and/or on Steam. All games are playable on Windows, and most are also available on Mac. Select titles are playable on Linux. Source files and GameMaker Studio software is redeemable on GameMaker. Pay $1 or more for access to Steam and GameMaker keys,” reads the official announcement.
The games included in this bundle are: Death Ray Manta, Spoiler Alert, WizardWizard, Another Perspective, Super Crate Box, Spoiler Alert, 10 Second Ninja, Death Ray Manta, Detective Case, Clown Bot in: Murder in The Hotel Lisbon, Savant – Ascent, and Stealth Bastard Deluxe. Only Stealth Bastard Deluxe, Savant – Ascent, and Detective Case and Clown Bot in: Murder in The Hotel Lisbon.
The promotion for this game will continue for the next six days.
