We’ve been informed earlier by Arne Exton, the creator of numerous GNU/Linux distribution and Android-x86 operating systems, about the immediate availability of EXTON OpSuS Build 151112.
According to Mr. Exton, EXTON OpSuS Build 151112, which is also dubbed EXTON OpSuS 42.1 KDE, is the first ever GNU/Linux distribution based on the recently released openSUSE Leap 42.1 operating system, which has been officially unveiled earlier this month, on November 4, 2015.
Powered by a kernel from the long-term supported Linux 4.1.12 series, the EXTON OpSuS 42.1 KDE operating system uses KDE SC 4.14.10 as default desktop environment. All pre-installed packages have been updated to their latest versions as of November 12, 2015.
The Build 151112 includes many open-source applications, among which we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, LibreOffice office suite, GIMP image editor, SMPlayer video player, GParted partition editor, and NetworkManager.
“You’ll run the system as root or as the ordinary user live. Root’s and live’s password is root/live. EXTON OpSuS can easily be installed to hard drive (of those who so desire). That is directly while running the system from a USB stick. The system language is English,” Arne Exton writes in an email to Softpedia.
EXTON OpSuS 42.1 features a persistence mode
An interesting features of the EXTON OpSuS 42.1 KDE distribution is that is features persistance mode, which lets users to reuse the Live medium whenever they want while saving the sessions. Of course, this will only be possible if you run the operating system from a USB flash drive.
