Linux News Today: Tomb Raider 2013 1.1.1 Patch Released for Linux and SteamOS with Improvements

Today, May 26, 2016, Feral Interactive, the video game published for GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems, announced the availability of a new patch for the Linux port of the Tomb Raider 2013 reboot.

Launched at the end of April 2016 specifically for Linux kernel-based operating systems, the Tomb Raider game proved once again that gaming on Linux is here to stay, and now it got even better for those playing this awesome game featuring the beautiful and adventurer Lara Croft.

Tomb Raider 2013 1.1.1 Patch is live now for all those who own the game and it promises to patch several of the annoyances reported by users since the April launch of the game. The entire changelog has been attached below, but we can tell you that the game will no longer crash when using a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

Also, some game menu glitches reported by users has been resolved thanks to the implementation of support for the GL_ARB_stencil_texturing OpenGL 4.3 extension, the occasional hangs that occurred due to thread size were fixed as well, and there’s now support for the GCC 5.3 compiler, offering CPU improvements, especially to AMD users.

Lots of sound issues are now fixed

Today’s 1.1.1 patch for the Tomb Raider 2013 reboot addresses many audio issues reported by Linux gamers with the ALSA sound driver, as well as those that occurred when playing the game in different languages. Last but not least, there are multiple OpenGL 4.2 and OpenGL 4.3 improvements, and general performance fixes.

If you have the game installed on your Linux box, you can get the Tomb Raider 1.1.1 patch right now just by opening the Steam for Linux client. The patch will automatically download and install.
