Linux News Today: 4MRecover 15.0 System Recovery Live CD Enters Beta, Includes TestDisk 7.0

Posted on November 30, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

The creator of the 4MLinux project, Mr. Zbigniew Konojacki, had the great pleasure of informing Softpedia about the immediate availability for download and testing of the Beta release of his 4MRecover 15.0 Live CD.

According to Mr. Konojacki, 4MRecover 15.0 Beta is now based on the Beta build of the 4MLinux Core 15.0 GNU/Linux operating system, which is also the base of many other Live CDs distributed as part of the 4MLinux project, including Antivirus Live CD, TheSSS, 4MLinux, as well as 4MRescueKit, from which 4MRecover is distributed.

The release notes of 4MRecover 15.0 Beta are brief, and we can tell you that besides the rebasing of the core system to 4MLinux Core 15.0 Beta, this pre-release version brings only the TestDisk 7.0 open-source data recovery software, which also includes the QPhotoRec 7.0 photo recovery utility.

"4MRecover is a small live CD designed for data recovery. It's a part of 4MRescueKit, which in turn is one of the three main 4MLinux releases available for download," said Zbigniew Konojacki. "This version includes TestDisk 7.0 and it uses 4MLinux 15.0 as the base system."

If you want to test this Beta build of 4MRecover 15.0, you can download the Live CD ISO image right now from Softpedia. However, please try to keep in mind that Beta releases are unstable and they shouldn't be used in production environments where stability is of the essence.
