Linux News Today: Windows 10 Accurate Linux Theme Released for Almost All Major Desktops

Posted on November 27, 2015 by Syauqi Wiryahasana

It took the Linux community a while, but they finally managed to put together a very good Windows 10 theme that works on most of the famous desktop environment.

Linux users love to make themes for their operating systems, and sometimes they choose to make them looks like Windows. The latest Windows 10 has been out for some time, but there wasn’t a proper Linux theme, with the exception of a few title bars and icon packs.

A group of designers built a nice theme that’s named just like that. It works with a number of desktop environments, including Unity, LXDE, Xfce, Cinnamon, GNOME, MATE, and Openbox (window manager).

“Windows 10 has caused a lot of noise in the tech world. Many find its new graphical interface very pretty, and now it's available for Linux computers! As the name suggests, the Windows 10 theme was built to emulate in the closest way possible the GUI of the well-known OS Windows 10,” say the makers of this Windows 10 theme.

The features touted include GDM and MDM (login screen) themes, Metacity window borders, and matching Icon theme and pointer theme. The only requirement is the installation of gtk-murrine-engine, which is available in all the repositories out there.

You can download the themes from either gnome-look.org or from the official b00merang website. Please keep in mind that an icon and mouse pointer packs are also available.
