The Calligra developers have been happy to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the tenth maintenance version in the Calligra 2.9 series.
According to the release notes, which we’ve attached at the end of the article for reference, Calligra 2.9.10 is a yet another bugfix release that resolves several issues reported by users since the previous maintenance version, Calligra 2.9.9. Moreover, it addresses a single Kexi issue, and adds great improvements to the Krita 2.9.10 software, for which we already published a separate article the other day.
“We are happy to announce the release of the Calligra Suite, and Calligra Active 2.9.10. It is recommended update for the 2.9 series of the applications and underlying development frameworks,” says Jarosław Staniek. “The next step after the 2.9 series is Calligra 3.0 which will be based on new technologies. We expect it later in 2015.”

Among the general fixes, we can mention a patch for a crash the occurred when using the artistic text tool selection, and better support for displaying comments during the loading of a file that contains comments. Also worth mentioning are saving tags improvements, with the UTF-8 codec now being used for saving the tags, and a fix for an issue with double borders’ outer line width, which increased on round tripping.
The Kexi visual database applications creator software has been updated as well to version 2.9.10, and it improves the handling of SQL databases, as the “BETWEEN … AND” and “NOT BETWEEN … AND” variables were made valid for NULL arguments. All users of the Calligra 2.9 office suite are urged to update to Calligra 2.9.10 as soon as possible via the default software repositories of their GNU/Linux operating systems.
Alternatively, you can download the Calligra 2.9.10 sources right now from Softpedia. It appears that this might be one of the last maintenance releases of the Calligra 2.9 series, as the Calligra developers are now concentrating all of their efforts on putting the finishing touches to the next major version of the software, Calligra 3.0, which is expected by the end of the year.
