On October 4, the developers of the Meld open-source diff and merge software that is distributed as part of the GNOME Project have announced the release and immediate availability for download of Meld 3.14.1.
According to the internal release notes, which we’ve attached at the end of the article for reference, Meld 3.14.1 fixes numerous issues reported by users since the previous version, which you can read below, and introduces two new features, the ability to open binary files externally and support for using locale-based default encodings.
Among the issues resolved in Meld 3.14.1, we can mention a crash the occurred when using the –output argument with certain GTK+ versions, issues with the keyboard shortcut documents, a problem with the merge-all action, and display issues with the Unicode character encoding when using the –help argument.
Furthermore, it is now possible to create patches whose path names have Unicode encoded characters, the copy-to-clipboard option from the Patch dialog has been fixed, the diffmap alignment has been improved and it now works with the new GTK+ allocation behaviour, and the default SVN keyword filter can now escape $ characters.
Meld can now correctly display identical notifications for modified folder comparisons and greatly improves the float accuracy in the timestamp resolution of the folder comparison functionality. Lastly, the Polish language translation has been updated. Download Meld 3.14.1 right now from Softpedia.
