The Ubuntu Kylin developers have just released today, January 28, 2016, the second Alpha build of the upcoming Ubuntu Kylin 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) computer operating system.
As you probably already know, Ubuntu Kylin is an official flavor of the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu Linux, designed specifically for Chinese-speaking users. It uses that same gorgeous Unity desktop environment of Ubuntu and includes a set of preinstalled apps targeted at the Chinese community.
The second and last Alpha build of Ubuntu Kylin 16.04 LTS updates the ubuntukylin-theme package to version 1.5.0, a version that changes the unity-greeter’s logo and the Plymouth text for the Xenial Xerus release, and updates ubuntukylin-default-settings to version 1.3.12, bringing remote search support for Unity Dash.
“We are glad to announce the Release of Ubuntu Kylin 16.04 (codename XenialXerus) Alpha 2. In this pre-release, we have fixed many internationalization and localization bugs in Ubuntu itself and bugs in software written by the Ubuntu Kylin team,” reads today’s announcement on the Ubuntu Wiki page.
Ubuntu Kylin Software Center got updated too
Ubuntu Kylin 16.04 LTS Alpha 2 also updates the Ubuntu Kylin Software Center, to version 1.3.7, fixing an issue where the application could not start without requiring the user to enter his/her password during first-time start, and a problem with the update progress, also during the first-time start of the app.
Other than that, the Youker Assistant was updated to version 2.0.6, a release that optimizes the scan display interface, removes the processmanager component, replaces the psutil.get_process_list file with psutil.process_iter, and handles org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad.
